We trust that you will find Greenlands superbly well equipped as a home from home. We’ve been using the cottage for decades of family holidays so we’re pretty confident we haven’t forgotten anything! To make the most of your stay, though, there are a few things you should know before you set off:
Bedding and towels
There are 3 bedrooms: 2 twin rooms each with 2 single beds and the third with a king-size bed. Summer and winter duvets (for 1 king size and 4 single beds) and pillows are provided in the cottage. Duvet covers, pillow cases, sheets and towels are included and the beds will be made up ready for your arrival. Please let us know if you have any special requirements for which beds you would like made up.
If you wish to take towels out with you to use at the beach or the swimming pool, please bring your own beach towels for this purpose rather than using those from the house.
Arrival and departure times
You may arrive from 5pm on the first day of your stay, and we ask you to vacate the cottage by 9am on the last day of your stay. These times have been put in place to enable extra cleaning measures to ensure that we are COVID secure. We will revert to more relaxed timings as soon as we can.
If you’re like us, checking out by 9am can be a real challenge, especially with kids. If you’re looking for somewhere local to have breakfast out after you check out, try the cafe at the Avon Mill Garden Centre, less than 10 minutes’ drive from the cottage. It’s open from 9.15am 7 days a week.
Telephone and Internet
There is a pay phone in the cottage which also accepts incoming calls. There is also generally good mobile phone coverage in the area. The cottage now has free internet access via WiFi.
Children
There is a high chair in the cottage (kept in the store cupboard, by the back door). Additional high chairs can be hired at extra cost when you book. The two twin bedrooms have plenty of space for a cot and you can hire a travel cot or a more substantial wooden cot at additional cost when you book (saving precious space in the car!).
Kitchen and Eating
The kitchen usually has a range of non-perishable food items in stock such as salt, sugar, flour and cooking oil. We try to keep the kitchen cupboard stocked with essentials such as dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. If you find yourself in need of odds and ends there is a small shop in the village, about 10 minutes’ walk from the cottage. If that’s shut there is a shop attached to the petrol station at California Cross, about 10 minutes’ drive from the cottage.
